β Eligibility Criteria

- Good academic record with a Ph.D. Degree in the concerned/allied/relevant disciplines.
- Master's Degree with at least 55% marks (or equivalent grade).
- Minimum eight years of experience of teaching AND/OR research as Assistant Professor equivalent, with minimum seven publications in peer-reviewed or UGC-listed journals & total research score of 75 (as per UGC Regulations-2018).
- For Deputy Librarian: Master's in Library/Information/Documentation Science (55%), 8 years experience as Asst. University/College Librarian, evidence of innovative library services (ICT integration), and a Ph.D. in a relevant area.
- Assistant Professor / Assistant Librarian:
- Master's degree with 55% marks (or equivalent grade) in a concerned/relevant/allied subject from an Indian University or accredited foreign university.
- Must have cleared NET/SLET/SET conducted by UGC/CSIR, OR have been awarded a Ph.D. Degree as per UGC Regulations-2009/2016 (with specific conditions like regular mode, thesis evaluated by 2 external examiners, open viva-voce, 2 research papers, 2 conference presentations).
- OR Ph.D. obtained from a foreign university/institution ranked in the top 500 in World University Ranking (QS/THE/ARWU).
- For Assistant Librarian: Master's in Library/Information/Documentation Science (55%), consistently good academic record, knowledge of library computerization, and NET/SLET/SET/Ph.D. as per above conditions.
π° Salary & Benefits
NCERT offers attractive remuneration packages as per the 7th Pay Commission, aligned with UGC norms. The salary structure is based on Academic Levels with rationalized entry pay:
- Professor: Academic Level 14 with rationalized entry pay of βΉ1,44,200/- per month. (Pre-revised: βΉ37,400-67,000 with AGP-10,000)
- Associate Professor / Deputy Librarian: Academic Level 13A with rationalized entry pay of βΉ1,31,400/- per month. (Pre-revised: βΉ37,400-67,000 with AGP-9,000)
- Assistant Professor / Assistant Librarian: Academic Level 10 with rationalized entry pay of βΉ57,700/- per month. (Pre-revised: βΉ15,600-39,100 with AGP-6,000)

π Selection Process
The selection process for NCERT Academic Positions 2026 is designed to identify the most suitable candidates through a rigorous evaluation:
- Shortlisting of Candidates:
- For Assistant Professor: Up to 50 candidates (category-wise) for the first vacancy and 05 candidates for every additional vacancy will be shortlisted for interview based on academic score (minimum 60).
- For Professor and Associate Professor: Up to 10 candidates (category-wise) for the first vacancy and 05 candidates for every additional vacancy will be shortlisted for interview based on minimum academic score as per UGC guidelines.
- In case of a tie in marks at the cut-off positions, all candidates with tied marks will be called for the interview.
- Interview: Shortlisted candidates will be called for a personal interview.
- Document Verification: Original documents will be verified at the time of the interview.
